28 Mag Tempo, libertà e narrazione: un convegno non banale a Manchester nel prossimo luglio
L’Università di Manchester ha organizzato un incontro su “Time, freedom and narrative” per il 3 luglio. Manchester è uscita dalla sua identità da archeologia industriale ed è diventata una delle città inglesi culturalmente più dinamiche. Questo evento è animato dal Centre for New Writing e da un gruppetto di ricercatori post-dottorato particolarmente interessanti. L’ingresso costa 20£. La prospettiva è interdisciplinare e multiculturale, con una attenzione forte alle narrazioni ‘basse’. Diamo qui la presentazione breve:
‘[How] are we to interpret history’s claim, when it constructs a narrative, to reconstruct something from the past? What authorizes us to think of this construction as reconstruction?’

Narrative has a long and rich history in the humanities and social sciences. Although first developed in the field of literary theory, the concept soon migrated across disciplinary boundaries, and has become a productive analytical tool within areas as diverse as history, psychology, and translation studies.
This interdisciplinary conference, featuring keynote speaker Professor Mark Currie (University of London), brings together research perspectives from across the academic spectrum in a discussion of narrative and its interaction with notions of time and freedom.
